The pilot ranking of charity NPOs was compiled by the RAEX rating agency (RAEX Analytics) together with the Rating Makers' Association. The project was supported financially by the Presidential Grants Fund. The ranking includes 293 nonprofits. The research team divided them into two large groups: private and corporate foundations (80 organizations in all) and fund-raising NPOs (213 in all).
The objective of the ranking was to analyze the charity foundations' potential as partners, as well as their financial, administrative, instructive, and communicative capabilities, and their reputation and authority, as compared to other similar organizations.
The Vladimir Potanin Foundation was placed at the top of the 80 private and corporate NPO list.
The ranking was informed by in-depth interviews with the top experts from the voluntary ("third" sector) and with the leaders of charities and social nonprofits. When talking to RAEX experts, Oksana Oracheva, General Director of the Vladimir Potanin Foundation, explained how we work, how private and corporate NPOs differ from one another, and how the success of a grantmaking foundation can be "measured".
