NEMO participated in an exchange between Russian and German museum professionals focusing on audience development, and education and mediation from 17-24 April in St. Petersburg, Moscow Yekaterinburg and Nischni Nowgorod.
During the week of exchanges the professionals from Germany met with experts from museums and organisations in Russia and shared their activities, experiences and views.
Nine Museum professionals from German museums and Julia Pagel, NEMO's Secretary General, presented and discussed current projects, developments and trends in museum education and especially museum staff training.
In turn, representatives from the Russian museums shared insights into their work and enabled a fruitful exchange of ideas, perspectives, approaches and aims. In Russia and Germany the training of future museum professionals, development and support of new professional standards and strengthening partnerships are of high interest for the field of museum studies and science. This is where NEMO sets a focus in its work: The training of museum professionals. Additionally, NEMO emphasised its role as an advocator for a stronger involvement of museums in policy developments, particularly in the educational sector.
